Mr. Dewey Nolan Whiddon, age 83 of Hiawassee passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Whiddon had been a resident of Towns County for the past 12 years, moving from Sumner, Georgia. He was born in Worth County to Green Dewey Whiddon and Elizabeth Slappey Whiddon; Mr. Whiddon graduated U.G.A. with a Bachelor of Agriculture and Georgia State with a Masters in Phychology, he was a member of AARP, McConnell Memorial Baptist Church and Senior Singles. Mr. Whiddon was a retired Realtor.
Surviving are: daughter, Alycen Estelle Whiddon of Hiawassee, son, Alexander Carswell Whiddon of Athens, son, Bruce Nolan Whiddon of Macon, daughter, Elaine Carswell Marchant, Brother, Drexel Whiddon of Grand Isle, La. and sister, Gussie Whiddon Lumsden of St. Simons.
Mr. Whiddon was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Hutchinson Whiddon in 1977; son, John Dewey Whiddon; brother, Wayne Whiddon and sisters, Gloria Whiddon Patterson and Charlotte Whiddon Campbell.
The family will recieve friends Monday, March 8, 2010 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the at the Cochran Funeral Home, Hiawassee.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee. Graveside services will be in Sumner Cemetery in Sumner on Sunday, March 14, 2010.
