Methamphetamine a drug that has a negative effect on all of society, has sent a Perry woman to prison for 8 years.
Anita Samantha Buchanan, 37, of 1312 Georgia Avenue was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Buchanan was arrested on Feb. 13, after Houston County Sheriff’s sergeant Clay Chambers clocked her driving 67 MPH in a 45MPH zone.
During the stop a K-9 unit gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle deputies found a small amount of meth in the console. Buchanan was arrested and a further search revealed a large quantity of meth on her person.
Senior Assistant DA, George Hartwig said, “ Ms. Buchanan possessed approximately 34 grams of methamphetamine hidden in her bra.” He continued, “ Apparently she believed that law enforcement would search there, but she was wrong.”
Hartwig also commended the Houston County Sheriffs deputies on an outstanding job.
Buchanan was sentenced to 20 years and ordered to serve 8 of those in prison. In addition to the prison time, Buchanan was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine plus numerous additional fees.
