By WES REYNOLDS Journal Staff Writer A Perry juvenile was shot in the chest Friday night after a drug deal for marijuana. According to Perry Police Captain Heath Dykes, the altercation occurred around 7 p.m., when two teens purchased the marijuana from Kendal Rashaud Morgan, 27, at Westwood Mobile Home Park located at 1109 Gaines Drive. The teens were also residents of the mobile home park. Dykes said the incident involved Morgan pulling a 9 mm handgun from between the cushions of his sofa and firing after a tussle ensued with one of the boys he sold the marijuana to. The 16-year-old boy was transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Dykes said the bullet exited the boy’s body and he never lost consciousness. The juvenile’s names have been withheld because of their ages. Morgan and the two boys had conflicting statements about how the incident unfolded. Morgan is currently being held at the Houston County Detention Center and charged with aggravated assault and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. No charges have been brought against the teens, Dykes said, but he and investigators have not ruled out the possibility. Dykes also said the location of the incident is a frequent source of phone calls on account of crime. “It seems to be a hangout ground for trouble,” Dykes said.
