Volunteers at Samaritan’s Closet, a Christian mission on Ball Street in Perry, were hard at work Friday morning picking out and packing clothing for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
According to Joyce Dunham, president of the group,  the clothing – all in good condition – included 102 paris of women’s shorts, 35 pairs of men’s shorts, 35 sets of nightwear, 153 women’s blouses, 30 pairs of men’s slacks, 45 dresses and 52 skirts.  The clothes donated are all summer weight and appropriate for the climate in Haiti.
The clothes were taken to Fort Valley State, where organization is underway to provide support to relief groups helping the earthquake victims.
Volunteers working on the project included Judy Lilly, Marlene Gray, Peggy Williams, Emily Montgomery, Jane Whipple, Leona Mixon, Walt Duham, Marilyn Garnto, Liz Fauconniere, Sally Ann Wolfe, Joyce Griffith and Kim Jones.
