Notices were put up Tuesday indicating the closing of the post office at 200 N. Davis Drive in Warner Robins “effective Feb. 12, 2010.”
Customers with post office boxes at the location can transfer them to the Russell Parkway location according to Michael Miles, a U.S. Postal Service spokesman based in Atlanta.
The closure of the retail office leaves the City of Warner Robins with only one operating facility.
Vernon Knight, officer-in-charge for the main post office at 904 Russell Parkway declined to comment.
“We tried to reach a lease agreement with the owner of the building and were unable to do so,” Miles said.
Customers frequenting the Davis Drive location are referred on the notice to the Russell Drive location.
The notice also states the delivery of mail to homes in the area will not be impacted.
Miles said there are no plans to open a replacement location in the area.
