There are plans to host an auction with live entertainment and food. Details are still being finalized.
The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at Our Place.
“The Davees have always been so generous and helped everybody,’ said Jodsaas.
Helping Jodsaas will be Jackson, who attended Perry High School with Bryan Davee.
“It was on my mind all night long,” said Jackson when she first heard of the Davees losing their main workshop, where Bryan Davee built custom furniture for clients.

After looking for her ‘forever’ Perry’s Keith Kindle has found the daughter he lost 36 years ago

By CHARLOTTE PERKINS

Journal Lifestyle Editor

If you live in Perry, the chances are good that you know Keith Kindle. He’s on the Perry police force – gray-haired but still going strong. He smiles a lot, loves kids, has been a school resource officer and works hard every year to raise funds for the Special Olympics. He’s retired from the Air Force Band, but has never stopped making music. He’s a family man, happily married to his wife, Maybelle, for 30 years, devoted to his daughter, Amanda, who was born with severe mental and physical disabilities.

What you probably didn’t know is that part of his life and part of his heart has been missing. Her name is Heather, and the last time he saw her was in 1973 when she was a year and a half old.

County approves 2010 budget
6/17/2009

The Houston County Commission approved its fiscal 2010 budget Tuesday.
As was the case during its initial public hearing last month it did not go unopposed. One of those who went against the grain this time – in a 3-1 decision approving it - was Commissioner Jay Walker III.
Walker said he just couldn’t go along with it, and the one mill increase – half of which was approved by the voters for the weather warning siren system and half of which goes toward providing a second pod for the jail - because it’s “already tough times for our citizens.”
His initial recommendation when asked by Commissioner Larry Thomson for suggestions was to take money out of the fund balance. But County administrator Steve Engle interjected that the commissioners had already lowered the reserves to the limit. Plus, he said “you would be violating your own ordinances.”

Site certification, he has explained on more than one occasion, will elevate the land’s status – make it more lucrative for potential businesses/buyers.

  By CHARLOTTE PERKINS

Walker, a Perry attorney and former Ga House Majority Leader, was elected to the post in 2007 by the state representatives and senators of the Georgia’s 8th Congressional District.  He said in his letter to Gov. Sonny Perdue and other officials that the reason for his resignation was “the probability of other opportunies that are incompatible with my being on the Georgia Board of Transportation.”
